7. Publications

On behalf of the UNESCO Chair River Culture, we have a multilevel approach of publications. Independent university research represents well renounced, high-quality information in internationally published, peer-reviewed journals or books (mostly in english language) help to inform experts at a high level of information. We additionally produce targeted information for decision takers and local managers in the languages of their country of origin. One objective of the Chair is to assemble a set of filesheets with best management practices on river management, specifically for natural and/or cultural heritage sites.

The philosophy of „River Culture“ is summarized in a recent paper (Wantzen, K. M. et al. (13 coauthors): River Culture: an eco-social approach to mitigate the biological and cultural diversity crisis in riverscapes. Ecohydrology & Hydrobiology journal special issue 'Challenges and New Dimensions of Ecohydrology' in press).
